NVIDIA Reveals H200 Consumer GPU for Local AI
NVIDIA has officially announced the H200 Consumer Edition (CE), a graphics card designed to bring data-center class AI performance to high-end consumer desktops.
Democratizing Local AI
The flagship feature of the H200 CE is its massive 48GB of HBM3e memory, specifically tuned for running Large Language Models (LLMs). This capacity allows users to run unquantized 70-billion parameter models, like Llama 4-70B, entirely locally with lightning-fast token generation speeds.
Specs and Pricing
- Memory: 48GB HBM3e
- Bandwidth: 2.4 TB/s
- CUDA Cores: 18,432
- Price: MSRP $2,499
While the price point removes it from the "budget" category, it represents a significant cost reduction compared to enterprise H100 units that cost upwards of $30,000.
Impact on Privacy
"This hardware enables a privacy-first AI future," said CEO Jensen Huang during the keynote. "Your medical data, your financial documents, your creative work—everything can be processed by a state-of-the-art intelligence without ever leaving your home office."
